Activities at the coast in Namibia are diverse and cater for everyone. There are so many things to do while on holiday. Activities are incredibly diverse and you are sure to find something that appeals to you. From soft and leisurely activities to fast and action-packed, adrenalin pumping activities. With diverse and vast landscapes and generally sunny weather, holiday makers can choose from a multitude of activities in and around Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, which are considered to be the adventure capitals of Namibia.

SWAKOPMUND
Swakopmund is a Namibian city on the Atlantic coast known for its 19th century German colonial architecture and its location at the edge of the Namib Desert. It is 70km south of Henties.
Landmarks include Swakopmund Lighthouse and the Mole, an old sea wall. Next to the Lighthouse the Swakopmund Museum documents Namibian history.
Visit Desert Explorers, just outside Swakopmund on your way to Walvis Bay. Where you can quad biking in the dunes or camel riding in the dunes.

ZEILA SHIPWRECK
14 km South of Henties Bay
The Zeila got stranded on 25 August 2008 in the early morning hours near “Die Walle” a popular fishing spot 14 km south of Henties Bay. The fishing trawler that was sold as scrap metal to an Indian company got stranded after it came loose from its towing line while on its way to Bombay.

DEAD SEA
30 km Nort of Henties Bay on the C34.
It is a unique man-made salt pan formed by a former Strathmore South Tin Mine excavation. Underground water seeped into the mine, and the high mineral content makes the water extremely salty, allowing people to float easily.
When visiting take along enough fresh water to wash off the salt after swimming in the dead sea.
Permit is required. You can get a permit at Cape Cross or at Ministry of Environment , Forestry and Tourism offices at Swakopmund.

CAPE CROSS
The Cape Cross Seal Reserve is a sanctuary for the world’s largest breeding colony of Capefure Seals.
It is on the C34 road north of Henties Bay.
59.6 km from Henties Bay a 43 min drive from Henties Bay.

BRANDBERG
Brandberg is Namibia’s highest mountain. Situated approximately 30 km northwest of Uis. It is 114 km from Henties Bay on the C35.
The Brandberg itself host over 1 000 bushmen paintings, scattered across rock shelters and caves. You can visit the White Lady Fock Painting at the Brandberg. To reach the White Lady it is necessary to hike for about 45-60 min over rough terrain.

SPITZKOPPE
The Spitzkoppe is a group of bald granite peaks located between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib Desert. The granite is more than 120 million years old.
It is on the D1918. 1h42 min drive from Henties Bay, 110 km gravel road.

FISHING
Henties Bay is a popular fishing destination in Namibia, known for its productive fishing grounds and opportunity for both beach and rock angling. You can expect to catch species like Steenbra, Galjoen, Blacktail and various Sharks.
You can get your angling permit at the office of Sea Fisheries, Hanganeni Fishing Centre in Henties Bay.
